Our 3 Days Gorilla Trekking and Lake Bunyonyi tour package is designed to give travelers both adventure and relaxation—combining the thrill of tracking mountain gorillas with the serene beauty of Lake Bunyonyi. The journey begins with an unforgettable encounter with the gorillas of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, followed by peaceful moments of canoeing, island hopping, nature walks, and community visits at Lake Bunyonyi.
Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located about 512 miles from Kampala, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its rich biodiversity and home to the world’s highest population of mountain gorillas. Fourteen gorilla families are fully habituated for tourism, with two others open for the gorilla habituation experience.
Meeting these gentle giants in their natural habitat is one of the most memorable wildlife encounters on Earth. Along the trek, you’ll pass through lush tropical forests filled with breathtaking landscapes, diverse plant life, and fascinating creatures. Bwindi boasts over 200 tree species, 310 butterfly species, 120 mammals, and 51 reptiles. More than 10 primate species inhabit the forest, including baboons, chimpanzees, blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, colobus monkeys, and L’Hoest’s monkeys. Bird enthusiasts will find over 350 bird species recorded in the park.
Relaxation at Lake Bunyonyi
After gorilla trekking, you’ll head to Lake Bunyonyi—meaning “Place of Many Little Birds” in the local language. Surrounded by steep, forested hills and dotted with 29 picturesque islands, Lake Bunyonyi is the second-deepest lake in Africa. It offers a perfect setting for relaxation, swimming, canoeing, and nature walks.
Visitors can also explore the surrounding villages, meet the Batwa people, or enjoy a scenic biking adventure. Lake Bunyonyi is a favorite stop for unwinding after the excitement of gorilla trekking or for breaking up longer safaris in Uganda.
